Who done it?

An unsuprising conclusion will shortly unfold.

A Quick Recap

Suspects

RA Zach

It was revealed that Zach was just tearing down old posters NOT door decorations. Zach however still doesn't have anyone to corroborate his alibi.

RA Emily

It was revealed that Emily's expo-marker had just ran out of ink and she threw it away. Emily also doesn't have anyone to corroborate her alibi but given her personality it makes sense that she was just in her room the whole time.

RA Brandi

It was revealed, to us, that Brandi went out and partied instead of doing her on call rounds and the eye witness saw Brandi rushing to get back to her dorm in her drunken state. Though none of this was revealed to Chris.

The Mystery Continues

Let us rewind and look at this case from the beginning. On the morning of October 31st resident assistant Chris found three of his door decorations missing as well as his whiteboard trashed. He went on his morning round pondering what could have happened when he discovered Emily’s expo-marker, that had an eraser on it, was missing from her whiteboard. Continuing on his round he ran into some residents and they informed him that they saw Zach taking items off of the doors in the middle of night and they also saw Brandi running through the halls at around 2 am. Finding his way back to his room with this information Chris stumbles upon his door decorations in the stairwell, the same one Zach frequents, and decides to leave them there for the culprit to see. Chris then questions the resident assistants and narrows it down to three suspects; resident assistants Zach, Brandi and Emily.

Chris first questioned Zach. During this investigation Chris learned that Zach was on call, meaning he had to stay in the dorm, the night of the crime. Zach told Chris that he did not do rounds with Brandi as she had told him she wasn’t going to do them. This information contradicted Brandi’s statement that they in fact did all their rounds together. Zach also told Chris that yes, he was taking items off of the walls, but they were not door decs. He was taking off old posters for past events because they were cluttering the walls and were unnecessary. When questioned about the door decorations being in the hallway that Zach frequents, Zach assured Chris that it is a public staircase and that many people use it. After careful consideration of Zach’s testimony, Chris concluded that Zach did not commit the crime.

The next person Chris questioned was Brandi. Chris learned that Brandi and Zach’s stories contradict each other. Brandi states that she did all of her rounds with Zach but Zach states that he didn’t do any with her. When questioned about this Brandi stuck to her story making Chris very suspicious. When questioned about running around the halls at 2 am, Brandi informed Chris that she was responding to an incident. This puzzled Chris because when he read the on-call report there was no sign of an incident every happening. Even after all of this, Chris concluded that although Brandi does seem very suspicious, she has no motive to steal door decorations therefore she could not have committed the crime.

The last person Chris questioned about this crime was Emily. During the questioned Chris learned that Emily was in here room the entire night studying for a 9 am test. Chris does believe this is a possibility because Emily is always in her room studying but there is no one to say that she was there so that makes her a suspect. When questioned why her expo-marker was missing Emily told Chris that the marker had died and that she through it away. After careful consideration of everything Emily had said Chris decided that all of her stories were in fact believable given Emily’s personality. Because of this Chris concluded that Emily was no longer a suspect in the crime.

After all of the interrogations Chris was left with no more suspects. This case was turning cold, he had no suspects and no evidence pointing to anyone. Just as Chris was about it give up an idea sparked into his head. The residents. Chris was so busy blaming his co-workers that it didn’t cross his mind that the most likely suspect was a resident. And so, Chris will now begin his investigation again but this time focusing on the residents instead.
